Emma Tessler, LMHC is a psychotherapist working with individuals, couples, and families in New York City.

I hope to create a space where clients feel supported, challenged, and understood. Therapy is a collaborative process. Whether you're coming to therapy on your own, or with a partner or family member, we’ll work together to make sense of what’s bringing you in.

My clinical focuses include relationship concerns, mood disorders, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, the postpartum period, sex and sexuality, and religion; those who are actively practicing, and those who are processing the lasting effects of a religious upbringing. I offer affirming care for individuals from LGBTQIA+ communities.

A variety of influences inform my practice, including psychoanalytic theory, narrative therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment theory, and trauma-informed approaches such as parts work.

I received my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from The City College of New York and completed a postgraduate certification in Family and Couples Therapy at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP). I am currently completing a postgraduate certification in Trauma Therapy. In addition to my clinical practice, I serve as an instructor in ICP's Family and Couples Therapy Studies (FACTS) program, where I teach and mentor therapists in training.
