Emma Tessler, LMHC is a psychotherapist working with individuals, couples, and families in New York City.

Her style is collaborative, warm, and conversational. Therapy doesn’t need to be stiff or overly clinical. In addition to making space for difficult topics, humor, honesty, and levity all have a place in her sessions.

I care about working with relationships—couples, families, and beyond. I have a special focus on the challenges that come with co-parenting and the postpartum experience. I also work with trauma survivors, PTSD, mood disorders, and individuals managing anxiety and depression. I am dedicated to providing affirming care for individuals from the LGBTQIA+ communities, and to addressing how race, power, and systemic oppression shape our lived experiences and mental health.

I take a strength-based psychodynamic approach while integrating elements of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), narrative therapy, and relational psychoanalytic theory into my practice.

I received my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the City College of New York and completed a postgraduate certification in family and couples therapy at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP).
